In this special article we are going to discuss one issue which is a very important for your success. What is that issue? Visibility - your own visibility in society, your own visibility in the area where you want your patient to come from. Your visibility in your target patient's area.
Now let me first define meaning of the term of visibility.
Definition - Visibility can be defined as awareness about you, your practice, the treatments you offer - in the market you want to focus.
In another words if all the industrialist in your city is the market that you are looking for, then your visibility means how many of those industrialists or the people in the industry are aware your of your existence or your presence? How many of them know that you are rendering those services that you provide?
I've taken this just as example. You can define your market area wise also - like particular area in your city. That is also a good way to define your ideal patient or ideal market. But the important thing is how much visible you are in this market? How many people know you?
When you are walking on the street, do people recognize you? Do they look at you and say, "This is Dr Rajesh who is going on". I am not talking about having celebrities' status like film stars. Where everybody is aware of them. I'm talking about having celebrity status in very limited, focused area. The area in which your patients are. That kind of visibility helps tremendously in attracting new patients and maintaining your existing patients.
Once that visibility starts improving, people starts taking notice of you. You become sort of expert in their eyes. They are ready to wait more just to get treatments from you.
Now what are the ways by which you will get visibility -
1) Through your existing patients - Develop a 12 month communication program in which you are going to be in front of your existing patients every month. In our society, we have so many occasions that it's very easy to contact your patients every month. We can do that every week also.
There are so many festivals, so many days, so many social occasions. Use these things to be in touch with your patients. Not only to be in touch, but to be in front of your patients.
This helps in increasing your visibility.
2. Second way is approach the targeted patient profile in your area - in very subtle manner. No hard selling, no aggressive behavior, no nothing. Just an offer for a free report which is written by Dr Rajesh. That is a very good idea. it gives you not only increased visibility but an expert status also.
Why? Because NOT everybody can write special report; NOT everybody can write articles. So immediately you are differentiated from the other doctors to whom your target market is visiting.
3. Third thing is start getting free publicity in newspapers in your area. Make it a commitment that you are going to send at least one article to the newspaper. Believe me that is the cheapest way to improve your visibility.
Make it a habit to send one article, one industry news about your practice, your field to all the news papers. Start sending them.
Will everybody print an article by you? No. That's not going to happen. But what if out of 52 articles you send in a year, they print only 15? It is not bad at all. Especially when it is all free.
Once you start doing this soon you'll start seeing various results from these activities.
